Ever since we released the original Wi-Spy over a year ago we have received a constant stream of requests for a version of Wi-Spy with an external antenna. After a couple false starts and change of plans Wi-Spy SMA (codename) is finally nearing the manufacturing stage! Heres a picture of one of our prototype units.

Although it would’ve been simple to just swap the internal antenna for the SMA connector (our original plan) we decided to completely redesign the hardware to get better performance. While its still too early to provide the technical specs of the new hardware the following screenshot comparison shows the difference in frequency and amplitude resolution of Wi-Spy vs Wi-Spy SMA.
