Passionate People

Since Oscium's acquisition of MetaGeek, I've gotten to spend some time with people who are REALLY into wireless communication.

I've longer admired bloggers (yes, I'm old) and podcasters. Virtually all of my professional development since I finished college has come because someone took the time and energy to share their own expertise in a post or an episode. Where do creators get that energy? Passion!

One of my passions, that I discovered because of working at MetaGeek, is for making something that is normally invisible visible. A spectrum analyzer does this for RF transmissions in general. The "digital phosphor" of the density display does it in a different way, revealing the "shape" of transmitter's signal. The treepies in Eye P.A. and the MetaGeek App reveal how much airtime is used by 802.11 management frames. The first time I saw each of these, it gave me chills. The ability for a simple visualization to instantly deliver such a deep understanding is something I'll always pursue.

MetaGeek and Oscium have been fixtures in the Wi-Fi and wireless communications tools market for over a decade. So, naturally, this acquisition has generated some buzz. I've had the opportunity to join a few podcasts to talk about the history of MetaGeek and the future at Oscium. The coolest thing about doing these shows is just getting to hang out with other people who LOVE this stuff! Whatever you do, however long you've been doing it, the best way to keep it fun and to keep levelling up your game is to surround yourself with people who love it.
