Field testing the Air Viewer alpha version – residential Wi-Fi still has a lot to learn…

I took the screenshot of Air Viewer on the left in the parking lot of a retail center here in Boise, Idaho. Pretty much perfect channel planning for the 2.4 GHz range. That’s a good sign of neighboring retailers playing nice with each other and being good neighbors. On the other hand, the right screenshot was taken at my house… 😞 Check out all of that ugly adjacent and co-channel interference on the 2.4 GHz band. IoT and ISPs are still struggling pretty heavily with channel planning on 2.4 GHz. As expected, the 5 GHz band has very few APs and is pretty free and clear. 7 APs on 5 GHz compared to 25 APs on 2.4 GHz.
