Remember your first computer? That one that you probably upgraded a thousand times – from a 386 to a 486, from 1 mb to 8 mb of RAM … you know the one. No matter how much you tried to help it keep up, it was impossible to put off the inevitable. Soon enough, it got to the point where you were hanging onto it more for nostalgia than for utility. The one that, eventually, had to be taken out to the digital pasture*.

Well, the time has come for a few MetaGeek products to join your beater PC. It needs friends, right?

As of today, June 26, 2017, the following applications are no longer available for purchase:

• inSSIDer 4
• inSSIDer for Android

While we understand inSSIDer 4 and inSSIDer for Android delivered some value for our customers, the reality is that inSSIDer Office is a more robust diagnostic tool that provides significantly more value. For just about any use from home to small business, it scales with the user’s needs, from basic channel selection to detailed RF spectrum visualization and troubleshooting (when paired with a Wi-Spy Mini or Wi-Spy DBx).

Simply put, MetaGeek is dedicated to creating software that provides robust, continued value for our customers and these quick-fix products don’t reflect who we are and what we do.

Additionally, MetaGeek is ending availability for the following products in 60 days, or upon exhaustion of current inventory:

• Lab Accessory for Chanalyzer (software license)
• Wi-Spy 2.4x (hardware)

While we see the value in the Lab Accessory – and 2.4x has a permanent place in MetaGeek’s history – the reality is few customers are using Lab, and the 2.4x has become the awkward middle child between the Wi-Spy Mini (which is both more portable and way more adorable) and the Wi-Spy DBx, which is the clear solution for anyone who wants an affordable and comprehensive dual-band spectrum analyzer. Why is it always the middle child? So cliche.

MetaGeek will provide major bug fixes for all of these products for 12 months following the end of availability (“sell through” dates below). Similarly, customer support for the inSSIDer products will extend 12 months, while Lab and 2.4x will receive 24 months of customer support.

Discontinuing these products allows us to focus our energy, innovation and time on the products our customers love and use the most.
